Sony e Nintendo utilizzeranno middleware Sega per offrire il gioco online
Era la naturale evoluzione della rete di gioco online Sega dopo la prematura scomparsa del Dreamcast. Sega ha annunciato oggi di aver raggiunto un accordo sia con Sony che con Nintendo per la fornitura di middleware per semplificare l'introduzione di elementi di gioco online nelle future produzioni dedicate a PlayStation 2 e GameCube. Entrambi i colossi nipponici dell'intrattenimento videoludico utilizzeranno quindi il SEGA Network Application Package (SNAP), una suite di tecnologie middleware e di servizi avanzati (gestione server, gestione utenti, registrazioni e pagamenti, testing) che mirano a ridurre i tempi di sviluppo e a rendere più semplice l'implementazione di funzioni di gioco online multipiattaforma.
